20 Bachelorette & Bachelor Party Trends of 2020
When you or your bestie have chosen the Date, no one could have ever predicted that the pandemic started at the farmers market in China would paralyze the world and your upcoming celebration will be so affected by it. It’s awful, we know and we feel you, as we have been planning hundreds of bachelorette, bachelor and wedding parties that are now postponed and the date is TBD.
That’s why we’d like to talk about the upcoming trends to keep in mind given the new reality and what is in the foreseeable future for you - celebrating, and for us - planning and producing celebrations for you.
Great Expectations & New Reality
We all had high hopes and expectations for 2020, rose gold was supposed to be the color of the year and amazing celebrations were in planning and production… Instead the only celebrations and rose all day that is being poured is at our homes with partners, pets, and girlfriends over the virtual happy hours…to be real, for at least another month.
Realistically, if you or your best friend’s wedding was scheduled for May-July, the odds of having to reschedule it along with the Bachelorette Party are, unfortunately, way too high. According to the CRO of one of our strategy partners - Bachelorette Party planning services, over 30,000 Bachelorette Parties have already been cancelled or submitted for rescheduling due to the escalating covid19 virus outbreak. Safety is a priority, so let’s stay safe first and celebrate life after!
Sacrifices & Silver Lining
Many of our clients who already had their ceremonies or sticking with the upcoming scheduled date (by the certified marriage officiant) but had to cancel their bachelorette and bachelor parties, would still like to have their parties taking place post wedding dates and this is the first official Bachelorette & Bachelor Party trend of 2020 - Post Wedding Bachelorette / Bachelor Party.
The Brighter Future & Trend #2
Post Wedding Bachelorette / Bachelor Parties bring us to the second celebration trend as soon as world wins over the covid19 and it is safe to celebrate - Joint Bachelorette & Bachelor parties.
We know it might not be ideal but think about it - you already had your wedding ceremony with the only person who truly matters - your spouse and now partner in celebrations, sickness and health, you have saved thousands of dollars of not having to entertain a few hundred guests, why not throw a celebration for the best friends only and have a joint party to remember?
Competitive game night, group camping/ glamping, road trip or an adult camp are great ideas for the joint Bachelorette & Bachelor parties. Art Room Events have produced hundreds of fun joint interactive murder mystery engagement cocktail parties for brides and grooms to be and can tell you with 100% confidence those joint parties are too fun and definitely something for everyone to remember! In 2020 new Murder at the Disco (1970’s Themed) and a fun combination of the Chicago river boat cruise and Tiki Murder Mystery cocktail party have been introduced and can’t wait to be launched as the pandemic alert is off. For other ideas, see the full article on the Combined Bachelor & Bachelorette Parties.
#3 Home Town Party
One of the biggest trends of 2017-2019 have been the destination bachelorette and bachelor parties - Vegas, Nashville, Miami, Scottsdale and Napa are among the most populars spots. Unfortunately, with the air travel precautionary measures and personal budget cuts, traveling might be off the charts for some members of your bachelorette party in 2020 and you will have to explore fun Bachelorette Party options in your home town. See our Chicago produced Bachelorette and Bachelor party experiences and BYOBp (Build Your Own Bachelorette Party) for ideas.
# 4, #5, #6, #7, #8 - Segregated Party of The Year
You need to keep in mind that whether it is girls/guys only or joint party, some guests might still have a guard on in regards to the public places and would rather be a part of the celebration that is more private and not yet ready to trust the strangers and be surrounded by hundreds of them at public places. So let’s explore the options. Good options:
Rent Apartment / House / Hotel Room
Airbnb, VRBO and Hotwire have great deals on private housing rental to host your party. Airbnb has recently launched a common no party rule, so make sure to coordinate the arrangements and extend of regulations with your host. Art Room Events has partnerships with multiple hotels and Airbnb properties to offer our clients the best deals and accommodations in Chicago, inquire here.
Rooftop Party (Private Reservation)
Whether it is on the property of the luxury residential building, hosted by someone in your party, private club or a hotel, Chicago has to offer one of the best known worldwide selection of rooftops with their gorgeous views, private bars and amenities. This luxurious option might be a better fit for larger or joint parties.
Boat Party (Private Rental)
Boat party is another great way to host a private party at a private venue, with the views, food, BYOB drinks, music and on the water fun (slides, rafts, water guns etc). The beauty of the boat party is that it can be completely segregated and totally private on lake Michigan or Chicago River or on the playpen where it feels like a day club but it can still be private within your boat and floats radius. See currently available boat rentals here.
Garden Party
Chicago or not, as long as weather is cooperating, private garden parties can be absolutely gorgeous. Pick the theme - make them bespoke, add some delicious bbq/grill, pre-pack with white claws, season appropriate cocktails or vino, and make sure whoever has the best camera in their phone is on top of their picture taking game or stock up on the polaroid instamix film to make a classic photo memory report.
Interactive Private Cocktail Mystery Party
Just as it sounds - an interactive private cocktail party for your friends and family (bachelorette or joint), with the theme of choice for drinks, an atmosphere complimenting gorgeous venue and, of course, outfits (1920’s speakeasy, Hawaiian tiki, 1970’s disco and more), mystery affairs, secrets and blackmailing, life entertainment and, most importantly, hands off planning, to the courtesy of Art Room Events. #20 Nature’s Call
Bachelorette, bachelor party, or joint, the good old camping, glamping or cabin rental is always a great way to gather best friends and create memories to hold onto.
